More Downton Abbey Gawking!

I had to go back again today and gawk for a while longer.  It was just too much fun

Here's a bit of a scene at the Crawley House.  Again, not a lot of action and most of it behind a wall, but fun to see anyway
.
This is the same church square, just from a different angle.  This is the house that is used for the Crowley home.
This scene has Mrs. Hughes (Phyllis Logan) bringing a older gentleman to Mrs. Crowley's house

Cameras rolling across the square
Reshooting the scene with the actors switching places in the back seat
I love Mrs. Hughes
Sharing the fun with Kimberly, Eleanor, and Gemma Carlile and Sara Elizabeth Gaston Benites
Today there were many more paparazzi hanging about.  I think it was because Maggie Smith showed up on set.
End of shooting for these lovely ladies -- coats on and back to a warm car.
This is the most we could see of the scene with Maggie Smith.  They were very protective of her.  The umbrellas are not there for the rain (it was cold but dry today).  The umbrellas are there to block any gawkers and photographers from getting a shot of the scene and the actors.
I love the old cars!
Again, rehearsing a scene with Maggie Smith.  When they actually filmed the scene, we were asked to move around the corner where we couldn't see anything.
This is a house in Bampton that has been turned into the Downton Post Office.

The production company won't be back to Bampton now except for a few summer scenes.
What an honor it has been to have a tiny glimpse into the making of this wonderful series.

  1. Hi Shelley
Any chance I can bortrow your image of bampton (IMG_5875.jpg) for a project I'm doing on Downton for a friend? We can acknowledge you as the photographer, and add a link to here, if that helps.
    Many thanks,
    Marcus
